What is Taxamo Assure?

  • Determine the party ( Seller, Buyer, or Taxamo) who is liable for tax.
  • Calculate the tax rate.
  • Process refunds.
  • Generate invoices.

For more information about the features, see Benefits and Features.

The service is intended for physical goods valued at €150 or below. For more information, see How Taxamo Assure by Vertex Helps You and Why Choose Taxamo Assure by Vertex?.

For more detailed information about how it works, see How Taxamo Assure Works.

How does it Work?

After you have integrated the service, it will process incoming transactions to decide if they qualify for Import One Stop Shop (IOSS). Transactions up to 150 EUR qualify for the IOSS scheme. Where applicable, it allows Taxamo to bear the liability for the transaction.

IOSS transactions must be physical goods that are shipped from the United Kingdom (UK) into the European Union (EU) up to 150 EUR value. Shipping is not included in this value.

The service uses a feature called Line Item Liability Assignment (LILA) to determine what party is liable for tax for each line of a transaction.

Where Taxamo is liable for an IOSS transaction, the VAT is paid and you are provided with an IOSS number to use for your goods. You are then charged for the tax and the 2 EUR fee for each parcel sent under IOSS.

How is it Integrated?

The service can be integrated directly using the API or using plug-ins (where available) for e-commerce platforms.

The service is based on the Seller Transaction API. This is a RESTful API that contains a set of endpoints for handling transactions, like sales and refunds.

The API facilitates the integration between Taxamo and your checkout processes. This is shown in the following graphic:

API Simplified Overview

Direct-API Integration

You can integrate the API directly with your web store. The following table outlines an example of what this integration might look like. It is intended to show how your business processes can be mapped to the endpoints that you send requests to. These examples are simplified to give you a sense of how the API integration works:
