Service Sunsetting FAQs

Read the following FAQs to get an overview of the process of sunsetting the service.

What are the implications for my business?

Once the service is withdrawn, Taxamo Assure will no longer:

  • Calculate the VAT due on transactions. You will need a new indirect tax calculation solution for your business.
  • For IOSS eligible transactions, the VAT liability will no longer shift to Taxamo, and as a result our IOSS number will no longer be active or available. Your business will need an alternative solution, the Royal Mail summarize alternatives here.
  • New invoices will not be issued and no new reporting will be generated after the service stops.
  • Refunds will not be supported after this time. Please see the separate FAQ below.

What are the timelines for service withdrawal?

Taxamo Assure by Vertex will be withdrawn on December 30, 2024 at 13:00hrs GMT. All transactions, both sales and refunds, will need to have made their confirm call by this time to be supported.

How are refunds affected?

Refunds will not be supported after December 30, 2024 at 13:00hrs GMT. If you anticipate a significant volume of refunds: we recommend ceasing new transactions earlier, allowing your standard refund window to conclude, before the final deadline.

How will my data be deleted?

Once the service has been withdrawn, data will be managed and deleted as follows:

  • Chargebee accounts, where credit card data is held for the purpose of charging VAT and paying monthly fees, will be deleted on 6 Jan 2025.
  • Sandbox data will be deleted and sandbox accounts will be inaccessible from 31 March 2025.
  • Transaction accounts will be inaccessible from 31 March 2025. After this data, transaction data will be held in a secure database for 10 years, this is to allow for the possibility of these transactions being audited. This timeline mandated by EU IOSS legislation.

How can I access my data?

All transaction data we hold for your business is available via audit report. We recommend you download all historic audit reports and store them securely. To access your audit reports:

  1. Log in to your dashboard here.
  2. Select Reports -> Audit Reports from the navigation panel on the left hand side.
  3. Select + New Report to run new reports or download existing reports.

Audit reports can cover a maximum of a quarter, we recommend that you create one for every quarter you have traded using Taxamo Assure by Vertex.

Access to the dashboard will be removed on 31 March 2025 so please ensure that you have downloaded all audit reports before this time.


What do I need to do technically?

For direct API integrations, after the 30th December, we recommend that you remove the service's requests your checkout integration.

For Plugin integrations, you can uninstall the Magento or WooCommerc plugin after the 30th December.
